Nigeria Customs has Seized 13 vehicles from Kano state

Nigeria Customs Services has debunked reports that 13 vehicles were seized from a Kano state senator. In a statement signed by Joseph Attah,
the spokesperson for the Nigeria Customs Service said the report was mischievous.

Attah said the reports was widely circulated on the internet is capable of misleading the public into wrong insinuations.

He however, said contrary to the report, operatives of the NCS compliance team trailed the movement of some smuggled vehicles from Maigatari, Jigawa State to a house at Magaji Rumfa, GRA Kano.

Attah said: "On the 7th February, 2017, eleven vehicles, 10 Hilux and one Land cruiser jeep were retrieved from the house at Magaji Rumfa GRA, Kano and taken for detention at the HQ of Customs Area Command Kano."

It was known that the officers discovered there were no occupants in the house and they forced the gate open to retrieve the vehicles. "That investigation into the smuggling of the vehicles is still on to establish the true owner," Attah said.

"From the above, it is clear that whoever introduced the “Senator” angle to the story is out for pure mischief and does not represent the position of the service on this issue. Accordingly, the false and misleading report should be discountenanced please," he said.

Recall that the media was agog over reports that some 233 vehicles were impounded and 13 out of the vehicles a belonged to an unidentified senator. The reports had also claimed that the senator was doing all within his power to prevent the NCS from impounding his vehicles.
